I am always interested in geo-politics and what very much interested me was the fact you have made it clear - we cannot expect help if trouble brews at the border. The U.S has always and will

be clever - it ditched us and formed an all-white union. It knows how to topple, knows to help but

also will pull the rug/carpet . Have a feeling that this is by far the best of all your posts ! Also a little

clarification - would you mind jotting down Modi's ' good, bad and ugly' ? What he should discard, maybe, what he should improve on himself vis-vis poll promises, reforms - the most important -

grooming young talent, finding new and suitable faces for the next general elections ? Mahesh

ah, sorry i was down with covid and didn't see this comment earlier. no, india has no friends, and the US is not our savior. it's only a partner whose interests coincide with india's some of the time. i am not sure i have a good answer as to what modi should do. the good bit is industrial policy, technology adoption and infrastructure building. these have long-term benefits. built infra, put in regulations, remove the intermediaries, and support innovation and new ideas. that's my vision of what leads to strong growth for the country.

have for quite sometime been wanting to ask you and got the reply. Russia too is treacherous in its own way. Geo-politics is a tough game, understood. Please look after

your health. Read Vijay Gokhale's interview in ' The Hindu ' recently. He finishes by

saying that China is bent on creating trouble. M.K. Narayanan has too said the same,
