I have yet to listen to the entire podcast...I had to take a break because your perspective was at such odds with mine. From the looks of it, your forecast may well prove correct. But from where I stand, it is clear that a large swath of Americans can be persuaded to vote for a carnival freak who entertains them and trashes democratic processes to show his power, decimates the environment, hijacks the Supreme Court, plants his stooges in the DOJ, the postal service and the EPA...they will ignore all that plus the rising body count from Covid because he told them "its the China virus." Cuban Americans voted for a guy who openly talks about cutting off counting votes beyond election day -- because they believe his fear mongering about Biden being a Socialist. Puerto Rican Latinos showed up to deliver the Miami vote to the guy who tossed paper towels at their hurricane -ravaged fellow citizens.. Even children being read bedtime stories are prone to asking more questions and being better judges of character. Senator Marco Rubio and Senator Cruz were humiliated by Trump in the primaries-- Trump alluded derisively to a certain body part while referring to Rubio and made insulting remarks about Cruz's wife and father-- but both these Senators publicly aligned with Trump's reelection efforts. The stupidity and cupidity of the masses, coupled with the spinelessness of prominent Republicans, has turbocharged this unhinged narcissist's pursuit of a second term.
i fear you've been snowed by dem propaganda. for an outsider looking in, obama was probably the worst POTUS in 40 years, but he got a pass coz the media is so corrupt and so partisan. biden will continue that trend: wars all over the place, the biggest issue being debated is which bathroom transgenders will use, monsters like robin raphel were rampant. and china was capturing the whole south china sea.
"Dem propaganda?" That's a tad patronizing. I live it, I don't need propaganda to explain to me what I see. So I suppose you consider yourself immune to propaganda though you admit to being an outsider looking in? Because it's odd how when the topic is Trump, his loyalists immediately pivot to Obama bashing, a favored attack as defense strategy favored by Fox News. I'm not sure why you think Obama got a pass.
I think he was as fiercely and forthrightly criticized as anyone by the opposition and he was blocked at every turn by the Republican controlled Senate. As for China's unchecked ascendance, that was something that had been building for quite a while even under previous administrations thanks to corporations that wanted to escape regulation and maximize their profits , US jobs be damned. So suddenly the US wakes up the morning after the pandemic hits and is doubly hit by the full realization of how vulnerable decades of outsourcing has made them. This didn't just happen overnight during Obama's term. The opening up of China was seen as quite the strategic coup by Nixon and Kissinger and successive administrations just kept at it. The obnoxious pro- Pakistan Robin Raphel was a Bill Clinton appointee, and her controversial statements on Kashmir were made well before Obama was elected in 2008. Anyhow -- I just happen to think irrespective of who ends up being the US President, India needs to be much more focused and relentless in winning influence and fostering greater cultural awareness. All the hugging and pressing of the flesh notwithstanding, it would be a mistake to see Trump as remotely akin to Modi. Trump mainly cares about Trump. Period. Any benefits that might accrue to others is incidental.
you have your interests as a (I presume) resident and an indian american. feel free to pursue them. that doesn't by any means negate my interests as a foreign resident looking in and considering and pursuing my interests. nor does it prevent me from wagging my fingers at you folks and tut-tutting at what i see is your mindless worship of the false gods of wokeness, SJWism and other illnesses rampant in the Dem party. after all, american observers feel free to lecture us on how things should be in india. and why do i bring up obama? in case you didn't realize it, biden was fellow-conspirator with obama for 8 years, and it will be the same obama gang that will be pulling the puppet-strings when/fi this ancient, decrepit man is anointed as POTUS. he has nothing else in his resume of interest (oh, unless you consider the 1992 biden amendment that screwed india over in the cryogenic engine, and delayed india's space facing activities by a small matter of, 20 years). and yes, obama rehabilitated (just in time) the irrepressible robin raphel who had been accused of being in effect a pak spy, and she was busily packing her bags to be, i imagine, deputy secretary of state for south asian affairs or ambassador to india, when, alas, hillary bit the dust. sad, it was.
