the post by subhash ji reminds me of also Martand Sun Temple and Sharda Peeth that he talked about previously, as well as architecture of Angkor Wat, which is extraordinary in its astronomical links.
he also asked, “if prambanan in java can be restored painstakingly, after it had tumbled in an earthquake, why can’t our temples be?”. it’s a question of will, i suppose.
we are letting our temples deteriorate through lack of maintenance, as the State captures all of their revenues. i remember a temple in kalahasti, iirc, that collapsed recently.
also, sharda peeth is just 5-8km outside the LOC, and should not have been left in pak hands. jessore temple is just 5-8 km outside the international border with bangladesh, and should not have been left in bangladeshi hands. kartarpur sahib is 5-8 km beyond the international border with pakistan, and the khalistanis don’t make any demands for it (no prizes for guessing why). kailash manasarovar is only a little bit outside the international border with chinese-occupied tibet, and should not have been let go.
the congress managed all these tragedies. nice work, nehru and spawn.
