The thing is Marvin's 'When Old Technologies Were New' returns in many new ways to allow to reflect on this 'new tech' phenomenon. The print, the analog was restricted in a few hands. They were the Gods of information. While there are many drawbacks to (almost) everyone having a mouthpiece to speak from, the collective action that it can drive is unprecedented. Even though many said that they would boycott Dangal, it did not happen. Instead it was a huge hit. It is the cumulative effect and wearing out of patience of the Indian Masses who follow Dharma.....and allowed 'ample freedom of speech', that has resulted in this. As they say in Hindi 'Ghara kabhi to bharta hai'. There is a limit to the harm that you can cause. When it overspills it will hurt the hands that is holding acid!! Great post!
