Dear Professor, Thank you very much for taking time to read my comments and also for your reply educating me further on your own understanding and perception of the issues of 'democracy', 'public welfare' and 'governance' in general as well as how these are conceived in our constitution. You are definitely entitled to have your own beliefs. Good luck to you and to our beloved nation!
obviously, you haven't heard of the 'first past the post' method of elections, as opposed to 'proportional representation'. it'd save you some embarrassment to read up on that before yammering about the "will of the people". second, and i thought this was fairly obvious, this substack is not about politicians. politicians, we know, are dicey. it's the bureaucracy, judiciary, and media that are far worse in india, and unfortunately bent on sabotage.
Disgusting views. There is a time tested principle of four pillars of institutions for sound governance - go read that. And in a democracy, there will always be a voice for the opposition, no one should forget that the opposition parties in India together got over 40% of polled votes in the last election. The ruling party wins mandate for governance of the country but by no stretch of imagination it should presume that its views represent or cover the entire population.

Please read 60% in place of 40% as the support base of opposition parties. What is the mechanism that these 60% people are also heard?
