I agree that the all party boondoggle is a waste of money. these foreigners don't even want to hear india's side of the story, so they'll politely nod and drink their wine. the mythology that somebody, America or Russia or somebody, will come to our aid is utterly foolish. self help is the only thing, and for that indians need to be more disciplined and focused. boycott Chinese goods, for one.

Given the current economic volatility in the US and other western markets, I think the narrative outreach effort now being pursued overseas may fail to get proper eyeballs or even a patient ear. Being alone and seemingly having the world arrayed against you , however may be a powerful incentive to tone up and speed up our strategic moves internally as well strategically.

Trying to list some candidates for India-2035 mission

1. 90-seater civilian aircraft

2. AESA radars and AWACs for Indian defense.

3. Fully indigenous Hybrid bus

4. Automotive electronics based on domestic chips.

5. Carbon-capture tech for India's thermal plants

6. Robotic vacuums, mops -- Chinese brands consistently lead this segment

7. Indian branded computers, laptops, datacenter servers and smartphones

All world-class or world-beating. Some of these can be in India-2030 mission.

"Boycott Chinese goods, for one" - China's fall will more likely come from economic collapse than militarily. Their EV overcapacity and soon-to-come consolidation will result in massive job losses. This should repeat in other industries over time, a nightmare scenario for CCP.

India needs to do 3 things --

1) Focus on few specific industries and try to become world-class in them. Taking even 10% market share from China in the next decade is good enough. Govt can incentivize this -- GST on products with longer warranties should be lesser.

2) Boycott Chinese goods -- this is more from people than govt.

3) Improve the standards of our universities. Use AI as teaching aid and cut the flow of Indian medical students to China and Ukraine.

china is on an unstable trajectory, and in our lifetimes the Chinese empire of Tibet, Sinkiang, manchuria, inner Mongolia etc. will probably collapse just like the Soviet empire did.

the simplest thing indian consumers can do to hasten this is to just stop buying anything Chinese, especially EVs.

I agree with your point 1 about industrial policy: need to have a focused effort in some areas, and I suggest aerospace/defense as one. drones and missiles are going to be really important, and if India has a complete supply chain for these, it will both help national defense and export. companies like Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, safran etc are 5x to 10x the size of HAL/BEL, so there's room to grow.

yes, agreed on point 3 also. swap govt subsidy of JNU type liberal arts for technician training so that there's a skilled pool esp of mechanical technicians to enable manufacturing at scale and speed.
