Today we enter the official unlockdown from the Wuhan coronavirus shutdown. In this podcast, consider how we have managed so far, and how things look a little bad now: 256,000 cases and 7,000+ deaths. Since cases are doubling every 13-16 days, we’ll be at half a million in two weeks and 1 million cases in a month, if we don’t peak and the numbers start coming down.
The entire unedifying controversy over the Lancet hydroxychloroquine has shown the limits of how much trust we can repose in these brands in medicine. The WHO stopped a trial of HCQ and then reversed itself, covering itself in no glory at all. On the other hand, my doctor friends in India have been following the ICMR prophylaxis recommendation, using HCQ and azithromocyin.
But there’s no medicine, no treatment for the virus. No vaccine either, and no prospect of either in the near future. So all you can do is to avoid the virus, and improve your immunity.
