I spent enough time on MAGA forums to know that it is a white supremacist movement that hates immigrants. They have the most insulting labels for Indians and Hindus. Evangelicals and racists (very little difference, actually) make up the majority of the GOP vote. For all their other ills, the Dems were never against immigrants.

MAGA are a sign of white RoL decline: their world is collapsing around them, and they need to find scapegoats. who better than inoffensive, law-abiding indian Hindus? can't blame rop, for obvious reasons.

Dems were more anti-india, MAGA are more anti-indian/hindu. it's like choosing between two bad options: Scylla and Charybdis. bottom line is that the US has lots of problems, and can't carry on as though we are still in the 1950s.

"Dems anti-india, MAGA anti-indian" -- it takes some gift of clarity to phrase it so well.

BTW, I am envious of how well-prepared China came to this fight.

Both China and Canada are targeting Red state farmers and a GOP drubbing in mid-terms is very likely. That may be why Trump is so keen on opening up India agri market.

thanks! I have been reading of farm distress in the US in the wake of big buyers like china moving on, so you're right about the Midwest's desire to export Agriproducts to India. and that's a red line for India, because of a) GMO, b) terminator seeds that have to be bought every year from Monsanto and other Big Ag, etc. c) dairy from cows that have been fed ground-up cow parts. and no country can anger its own farmers. so the governors of Iowa and Ohio and whatnot have been visiting India, but I don't think India will buy boatloads of corn and soy from them.

there is a vicious cycle in the US: the Farm Bill gives huge subsidies to corn, soy, wheat, rice and cotton. this encourages over-production of these crops, esp corn. that ends up in high-fructose corn syrup in virtually everything: and leads to an epidemic of diabetes and obesity, via Big Food, which then supports Big Medicine. this is unsustainable.
